Week 4: VLOG! (Blog #5)

Hello everyone!!

What's up guys, I'm here to awkwardly stall you so you don't have to go watch my vlog because it's super awkward. It was a lot harder to make than I thought it was, especially because I had to listen to myself on repeat *shudder*

Just kidding!!  You'll probably (hopefully) like it.

I will put the scans of what I wrote in the vlog below the video. I apologize for the low quality, the camera I was working with was so old and my tripod kept falling over!!!!!

Calligraphy Vlog!! from Dana Kuo on Vimeo.

Here are my drawings in the video:

I hope you enjoyed my vlog, thanks for keeping up with me for so long!!

Bye for now

  1. Hi Dana!

You're making great progress so far :) I see you're using different kinds of ink/pens, but have you tried using something similar to paint? I've seen a few videos online, and it really allows you to flow from one letter to the next. It's really cool that you're experimenting with different fonts (is that what they call it in calligraphy?) as well!

    Keep up the good work,
    Kate Such

  2. Nice job with the calligraphy. I appreciate the Hamilton reference. Also, how many different alphabets have you learned now? Which is your favorite? I know one of the main reasons you chose calligraphy was because your grandfather wanted you to learn it. Have you been keeping him updated with your progress/has he helped you with your technique at all? Also, maybe you should start drawing whales? I know that has been scientifically proven to improve calligraphy style.

  3. It's so cool to see the different fonts and letters that you've learned to make, and it's interesting to watch how the different pens make different shaped letters. Good job!
